1. Program Overview
Hackers for Humanity (“the Program”) is an initiative by the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) designed to recognize elite penetration testing professionals and fund cybersecurity education for underprivileged learners worldwide. By participating in the Program, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
2. Eligibility
Participants must be at least 18 years of age and possess verifiable professional penetration testing experience. EC-Council reserves the right to verify all claims made in the nomination process and to reject any application that contains false or misleading information.
3. Nomination & Selection
Nominations (self or peer) are reviewed by the EC-Council selection committee. Submission of a nomination does not guarantee acceptance into the Program. EC-Council’s decision on candidate selection is final and not subject to appeal.
4. CPENT Challenge
Selected candidates receive a sponsored CPENT exam voucher. The voucher is non-transferable and must be used within the timeframe specified by EC-Council. Candidates must complete the exam under standard CPENT examination conditions and guidelines.
5. Scholarship Commitment
For each candidate who successfully earns the CPENT certification through the Program, EC-Council will fund one cybersecurity training scholarship for an underprivileged learner. The selection of scholarship recipients is at EC-Council’s sole discretion in coordination with its global training partner network.
6. Recognition & Publicity
Successful candidates consent to being featured in the Hackers for Humanity Hall of Fame, recognized at HackerHalted 2026, and included in related marketing and promotional materials. Candidates may opt out of specific publicity activities by notifying EC-Council in writing.
7. Code of Conduct
All participants must adhere to EC-Council’s Code of Ethics. Any violation of ethical standards, including unauthorized hacking, disclosure of exam content, or misrepresentation of credentials, will result in immediate disqualification and potential revocation of certifications.
8. Data Privacy
Personal information collected through the nomination process is handled in accordance with EC-Council’s Privacy Policy. Data is used solely for Program administration, candidate evaluation, and related communications. EC-Council does not sell personal information to third parties.
9. Intellectual Property
“Hackers for Humanity,” the Program logo, and all related marks are the intellectual property of EC-Council. Participants may not use these marks without prior written consent.
10. Limitation of Liability
EC-Council’s liability under this Program is limited to the value of the sponsored CPENT exam voucher. EC-Council is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from participation in the Program.
11. Modifications
EC-Council reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Program at any time without prior notice. Changes to these Terms will be posted on the official Program website.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from the Program shall be resolved through binding arbitration.
